Examination

The exam is divided in to two parts that you need to pass, the written and the lab/practical test. The duration of written exam is about 120 minutes and has about 90 to 110 multiple-choice questions. Candidates need to answer each question before moving on to the next question. In other words, candidates are not allowed to skip a question and come back to it at a later time. This exam covers everything from technologies to applications that are involved with the Cisco Enterprise VOIP solution.

The eight-hour lab exam is completely hands-on. A candidate needs to have skills and knowledge of troubleshooting parameters of a voice network and its elements such as VLANS, gatekeepers, gateways, and of course the quality of service. You are going to have to configure and trouble shoot pre-installed applications in limited time frame to pass the exam.

Written exam costs $350 and lab costs $1500. Candidates should give their first attempt for the lab exam within 18 months of passing the written exam. On failing in the lab exam, then application for retest should be given in 12 months to maintain the validity of the exam. If a candidate does not apply for retest within 12 months or fails to pass the lab exam within 3 years, then validity of written test expires and candidate has to take the written test again.
