An Overview Of Some Different Types Of Baby Nutrition Formulas
As far as baby nutrition formulas go, everyone wants the very best for their little one
. However, it cannot be denied that most people want what is best for their wallets, too. So, in this respect, what can you give your child that is both nutritionally complete and kind to your budget, at the same time?
If you're still reading, chances are you're not breast-feeding junior, so the following brief article is for you - so you have a list of the most common formulas that are fed to infants, along with an estimation of what you will pay out for the different preparations:
Cows milk formula - This formula is especially important if you are unable to breast feed your baby for whatever reason. Cows milk based liquids are great because their make up has been altered in such a way, that out of all the other formulas, cows milk most closely resembles that of mother's milk - and has many of the same nutrients as the real thing.
Unfortunately, many infants are unable to take this type of formula, either because they have allergies to cows milk, or are lactose intolerant. If this is your baby, you will need to find a suitable substitute for her.
Soy based formula - This is the nourishment you want to feed your baby if she can't tolerate milk based formulas - or if you're a mother who wants to keep as many animal proteins as possible, out of her diet. However, as good as this substitute is as far as being packed with essential nutrients, if your child is lactose intolerant or allergic to cows milk, there is a good chance she will have the same reaction to soy formula.
Hypoallergenic formula - This is a formula for those children who can't tolerate the milk or soy based formulas. In fact, this type comes in different variations of itself, for the very sensitive, as well. One of the types you can get is "free amino acid base" liquid, which means that the proteins are taken out altogether, and the liquid is made up of only the basic amino acids. Another type is the partially hydrolyzed liquid, which is suitable for infants who are able to take in proteins, as long as they are broken down into smaller portions that are easier for them to digest.
You can get any of these formulas in both the powder and the premixed preparations. The powder kind is much cheaper than the liquid - especially if you are fine with buying the store brand instead of the name brand. If you are, and you shop at the discount stores, you can sometimes get a 24 ounce can for around $15, whereas the name brand powered type starts off at about $25 per can. And, of course, if you insist on going with the premixed liquid type, expect to pay anywhere from two to three hundred dollars per case, depending on if you get the store brand versus the name brand.
And, the most important thing to remember when you are taking baby nutrition formulas into consideration, is that you don't do anything different with your child's diet, until you've spoken with the pediatrician. Only this doctor can assess your child's nutritional needs as to what is best for him or her.
