Achieving an ISEB Foundation certificate means you will need to undergo intense ISEB training. An ISEB course aims to cover all of the software testing processes and concepts concerned at foundation level. After completing a course, you will need to take the ISEB Foundation Certificate exam. This examination is a multiple choice paper that takes one hour. It can be taken in a public sitting or on-line.

Each ISEB Foundation Certificate will examine up to Level 3 (K3) software testing knowledge. This means that when sitting an exam for the ISEB Foundation Certificate you should have a clear understanding of the three levels (K1 'Remember', K2 'Understand' and K3 'Apply'). Any ISEB Foundation Certificate candidate will therefore be able to recognise, remember and recall any software testing term as well as explain the reasoning behind each stage in software testing processes. In general, after obtaining an ISEB Foundation Certificate a candidate may often decide to deepen their knowledge of software testing by applying for a further qualification. Higher certificates include; ISEB intermediate, ISEB advanced and ISEB practitioner. Each of these further certificates will allow a more practical approach than the basic level. If you are looking to apply for any of these higher certificates then you will need a pass at Foundation level.
