An Overview of the Samsung Flight 2 (A927)

The Samsung Flight 2 (a927) is afollow up on the original Flight

, and because of that the two phones share a lot in common. Like its predecessor, the Flight 2 features of 2.0 megapixel camera, GPS, and a media player. It also has 3G support, though it has a few extras thrown in like HTML support that the original Flight lacked.

There are several differences, though, and these come in the form of improvements upon the original design.

The first of which is the overall design. The shape and size of the phone are really comfortable, with the curved edges and the overall oval shape fitting easily into your hand. The full QWERTY keyboard slides out to the side instead of out of the bottom like the previous model, and it is large, making it easy to type without hitting three keys at once with your thumb. It makes for much faster texting than the virtual keypad.

The touch screen display is more vibrant and slightly larger, measuring in at 2.8 inches. You can customize everything within that display: font, colors, the background graphic, the back light time, and the message that appears on the home page.

The Flight 2 features three home pages, two of which can be customize to your liking, such as which apps and widgets have their icon on that page. The third page is dedicated to your favorite contacts.

At the bottom of the screen are shortcuts to the phone dialer, your full contact list, and the phone's main menu. The phone has enough space for up to 2000 contacts, with each being able to have five numbers, an e-mail address, a company name and job title, a nickname, a birthday, and notes.

Along with that, the Flight 2 supports apps and widgets for various instant messenger services, multimedia messaging, AT&T's mobile e-mail, and social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. Along with the individual apps for the social networking stuff, you can also use the Social Net app, which allows you to check up on several social networking sites in one single interface.

Other features of the Flight 2 include a calculator, a tip calculator, vibration, an alarm clock, a memo pad, a tasks list, a timer, a unit converter, Bluetooth support, voice command support, and several other little bits to round off the list. It's got all those little essentials that make a modern cell phone complete.

The Flight 2 also has access to the wide variety of AT&T broadband services, being a 3G phone. They include Mobile Video, which allows streaming video content, AT&T Mobile Music, and AT&T Mobile Radio, which will cost you $4.99 a month to use.

The camera is unchanged from its predecessor, being able to take pictures in four different resolutions at three different quality settings, with features including night mode, brightness, panoramic and mosaic shot mode, and more. It can capture video at two different resolutions, with a similar list of features available as when taking pictures.

The Samsung Flight 2 as a whole is a fully featured, comfortable phone.
