Type below stated commands in the command prompt:
cd windowssystem32drivers [Press the ENTER Key]
ren ntfs.sys ntfs.old [Press the ENTER Key]
After typing both the commands do not forget to press the 'Enter' key.
If the corruption has affect the ntfs.sys file, then it will change the name. But this command
will not rename this file, if the Ntfs.sys file file is not there.
4. Again type the below command in the command prompt. After typing a command, use an
ENTER key.
copy X:i386
tfs.sys drive:windowssystem32drivers (here, X refers to CD-ROM
Drive)
5. Take it out the Windows XP CD from drive. Enter quit and use an ENTER key to close the
Recovery Console.
6. Restart your system.
By above repairing steps of Ntfs.sys file, you will become able to boot your system in a correct manner.
But if the same problem still persists, then it might be possible that there is problem with the file system. For such situations, installation of Windows XP will be helpful.
