If people want to receive certain eye surgeries, they may visit an ophthalmologist, who will do some eye exam. The eye problems can be detected and other potential risks can also be found. Of course, some people have to get an eye surgery, while others are not needed.

To be simple, opticians are only those who can only make glasses or lenses; optometrist can offer eye exams and prescription or medications; ophthalmologist can not only offer exam, prescription and medications, but also perform surgery.
