Analog Music – Vinyl Records as the Mother of Modern Discs

Analog Music Vinyl Records as the Mother of Modern Discs

Music has developed throughout the years. From genre up to the style of the band members, all you've seen is how everyone has evolved from the past to today's modern music. Even musical recording has evolved from analog music recording to digital recording.

Analog music has been the mother of music where it's recording is due to the recording machines recording the sound waves. Digital recording on the other hand are used these days where collection or sets of numbers are recorded as the encoded form of the sound. While you know the concept of modern CDs, its concept came from the generation of vinyl records.

Vinyl records were the black and round records that resemble modern-day CDs. In terms of size, vinyl records are larger than regular CDs but they work almost the same since it's the mother of discs today.

They both have the center hole which is the part that will hold it while playing. It will lock into place while turning the record around for playback. Upon playing, you'll start to hear the analog music that has been recorded in it.

Decoding the music from the record and discs show the use of same principle. For records, the phonograph or the equipment that plays the music on vinyl records utilize a stylus. This stylus will fit on the ridges found on the record and will decode the sound as it turns. This is the time when you'll hear the recorded music in it. When it comes to disc players, you may have seen its lens. While phonographs have their styluses, this lens will be the ones to read the digital music recorded on the vinyl. Looking at it, only the looks changed but the effect is somehow the same.

However, there is a difference when it comes to recording analog music on vinyls and digital recording on discs. It's true that digital music may have higher quality compared to the analog ones but the quality of the vinyl used for the record can also affect its quality. The better vinyl type is used, the music produced will be more high quality than the usual.

Furthermore, it's also noticeable that modern discs seem to have the same structure and quality. However, vinyls used before for records can be thin or thick depending on how much the music producers would like to spend on these records. Hence, it will also be an indicator that their durability will be different also in the past. This is the time when they need to totally protect their records more by placing them properly on their sleeves. Not that the modern discs don't need that much protection but these vinyls are more prone to breakage espeically if they're thin in quality.

Vinyl records are one of the storage media options for analog music in the past. But the development of music made it as a known and important mother of modern CDs for entertainment. The good news about this storage media is they are still found today and can still provide a good music for people especially those classic ones.
