And so the former Chairman of the African Union with the ambitions of uniting all of Africa into a United States of Africa has gone on TV in the midst of the bloody revolt against him. We are talking about Muammar Gaddafi and Libya. Gaddafi has indicated that he will leave Libya but not as a country but a burnt land. And that Libya will be cleansed and purified from house to house to get rid of cockroaches and traitors. He calls the people, who are protesting against his 42 year rule "drunks and drug takers", and that "Libya will be set ablaze - everything will come to the boil". "I am going to take Libya back from these rats". "Damn those who stir unrest across Libya". He promises to "fight until the last drop of blood with the people behind him". Anyone who "undermines state will be punished by death".
"I will remain Libya's revolutionary ruler and opponents will be executed".
For all these many years Gaddafi has always been a beacon hope for uniting the North African Arab Countries (Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Libya and Morocco) with the rest of Africa, his burning desire or vision has always been about creating a United States of Africa, so you will often see him occasionally surrounded by African Chiefs during the African Union sessions. But unfortunately he only saw himself as the head of this United States of Africa and no other ways. So is the dream of a United States of Africa unaccomplished for Gaddafi?
