Andaman comprises of a cluster of 550 islands and is located in the Bay of Bengal

. It forms a part of the Union Territory of India, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Numerous islands as well as huge rocks define the map of the Andaman Islands. Fromm 550 islands, only 26 of them are inhabited by man. The name Andaman is believed to have been related to Hanuman, the monkey disciple of Lord Rama from Ramayana.

There are islands with expansive lands like the Middle Andamans, North Andaman, Little Andaman, South Andaman and Baratang, Blessed with a very fertile land; the islands are carpeted with lush greeneries. The sea coast looks amazing with the deep blue sea along it coupled with the flowy palm and tall coconut trees.

This island is of historical value due to the important places and events that had happened there. Andaman even appears in the Arab literature in the 9th century. This island was used as a camping location of military troops by many rulers. The famous Cellular in Port Blair is where many freedom fighters of the Indian Independence struggle had been captured as hostages.

The Andaman Islands also consists of hilly regions with thick forests. Diglipur is the highest peak in the Andaman, a magnificent viewpoint and a favorite among the picnickers, this place offers a spectacular view of the surrounding blue sea, the golden sand and the lush green palm trees. There are four major tribes that inhabit this old island.

The rain forests of the Andamans have different varieties of plants and the sea surrounding it serves as a natural habitat of many kinds of marine life. The soft sandy beaches are loved by the tourists, who seek to explore the unexplored, and those who seek seclusion in a serene unpolluted place.

The famous Viper Island is located near Port Blair and is named after a trading Ship Viper that was wrecked in the 19th century. You will also see an old destroyed jail built by the British in the year 1867. This island was actually an integral part of the great Indian Independence history and had witnessed the sufferings and sacrifices of Indian freedom fighters.

Viper Island is a peaceful scenic tourist destination, attracting thousands of tourists as it has multiple attractions related to historical importance and natural beauty. This small island is located in Baratang, an ideal spot for nature-lovers. An amazing thing that you cant afford to miss once youre in Bartang, is the glimpse of thousands of parrots flying home during sunset.
