Andorra City Breaks: An Excellent Locale For Skiing And Sightseeing

Andorra city breaks offer the best skiing around from beginner level to intermediate skiing

. The location of Andorra provides stunning scenery and some of the most dramatic in the Pyrenees. The main ski resorts; Arinsal, Pasa de la Casa, and Soldeu, offer the most fantastic accommodations and tax free shopping around. Arinsal is a great resort for families, with a large array of excellent child care available to parents trying to take in a little bit of time skiing.

It is also popular with groups of young people wishing to take in the vibrant nightlife of Andorra after a day of skiing. For those just learning to ski, Soldeu offers one of the highest rated ski schools in all of Europe.

Snowboarders tend to migrate towards Pasa de la Casa, with its 100km ski runs that are perfect for cruising along. Located between Spain and France, Andorra's rugged countryside offers a wonderful backdrop for the perfect skiing getaway.

If it isn't only skiing you are looking for, there are sights around this ancient nation that are well worth seeing; the Casa de la Vall is the historic government seat, while the 12th century Romanesque church has a magnificent structural design. Much of the cuisine in Andorra is Catalan, which is Mediterranean and derives from Spain. Much of the food consists of ingredients that are found in the Mediterranean area, such as; a variety of fresh vegetables, breads, pasta, chickpeas, cheese, lamb, fish, and olive oil.

This locale, almost completely hidden by the eastern Pyrnees, is not only excellent for skiing, but for hiking as well. The gorgeous countryside is filled with lakes and rivers along which many paths meander.

There is also swimming, fishing, horseback riding, rock climbing, clay pigeon shooting, and cycling to partake in while visiting Andorra. There are so many activities here that you, your family and friends will enjoy. There is even stuff for the children!

If the overall area isn't scenic enough for you, then don't worry, because there is also a breathtaking view from the hamlet of El Serrat. Many spectator sports are offered in Andorra as well, such as; rugby, basketball, car rallies, and motorbike races. March offers the Snow Running tournament and the Masters of Freestyle snowboarders competition. In September, there is a local festival held to honor the Virgin of Meritxel. This beautiful area has so much to offer during Andorra city breaks.
