Anna Roman, Woman From Spain (Chapter 6)
After having updated her profile, Anna saw that she had received an invitation from a man, who in his profile claimed to be a painter and in fact displayed amongst his photos many of his works or at least those he claimed to be his. Anna found the man, whose hair was dark and skin tone tanned, attractive and perhaps if she had not been in a relationship matters would have been different but they were not. This she could not or perhaps would not change yet this was another factor as far as she was concerned yet what was to the point was that he did seem nice in an interesting way and had asked to be amongst her friends. This being the reason Anna opted to accept his presence on her list of friends which she did so by clicking on the place marked "Accept".
After having accepted Anna went about sending message to those on her list of friends. As if making the rounds to check up on her friends and see how they were doing when she suddenly received a red lasso from the painter, whose name was Julian; who in fact was American as well as fluent in Spanish. This last detail being apparent in the private message he had sent her in which he included his email address as well as Skype name while at the same time asking her to give him her email so that he might send her photos of his works as well as some music. Anna also learning from this message that he in fact lived in the UK though where precisely she did not take the time to see.
Anna was enthusiastic to have a painter even if it was not a famous one offer to send some of his works and though she had no guarantee that he would send her what he had offered; she still gave her email address. This with the security that even if he did not send her anything, she at least would not loose anything given that she was not being asked to send money or anything for that matter which could cost her.
It in fact, did not take long for her email address to be delivered with 30 emails, half of which were filled with classical music ranging from Beethoven to Mozart along with many others. Regarding, the remaining emails; they as promised contained Julian's work which she found most impressive. It being images of women yet not nude in the same classical and at times repetitive positions which she always thought to be those which were the fantasy of many a man but of women involved in different activities. Most of which had nothing to do with sex or nudity yet demonstrated women in a natural state. As they went about many of the things they did regularly which they themselves rarely if ever paid any mind to beyond the fact that they performed them. There being one of a woman, painting her finger nails and how much passion did it show; given the dignity it managed to capture in her eyes while she performed this simple activity. The vision of this woman capturing her femininity in a way which naturally could mot deny she was a woman of sexuality yet it was almost as if this were but a part of the story that was being portrayed. This perhaps being the point that to this painter, women held a sexuality about them yet this was but a part of their being which perhaps was but the smallest factor in all that was their warmth in the delicate yet strong creatures they were.
Anna also saw another painting which captured the same spirit yet it showed a woman working with chemicals as a scientist might and how it truly demonstrated femininity while not overlooking the intellectual side of women; so often ignored in works of art. Anna was truly pleased that she had met him and felt the need to thank him for his works which she did with a message which added that it would be her honor to be friends.
A few minutes passed after having sent this message that she got a reply which caught her by surprise. It being one in which Julian sent her his cell phone number but asked if he could send her an sms and chat with her on skype. This being something which Anna felt she could not do given the jealous nature of her boyfriend so she suggested that they might simply chat there. Anna even explaining that her boyfriend did have access to her computer yet it would be safe for her to exchange messages there; she not even being aware that one could chat on nings.
Anna awaited on Julian's response as she looked over his paintings, still in awe of how he could capture a woman's sentiments so clearly; almost as if he were describing them with words through the colors he used to illustrate them. Julian's response however was one which truly surprised her as well as one which she would have never accepted. It being one in which he said that he was interested in exchanging sexual smses and having chats of a similar nature and did not really care that she was in a relationship and made it clear in no way that was not that this is what he wanted.
Anna had not bargained for anything of the sort though felt that if she had not been with somebody like her boyfriend or perhaps nobody at all; she would have accepted such a proposal. Anna, at this point choosing to express her deepest desires that they might become friends. Anna, again stating that it would be a thrill to have as a friend such an artist that her life might be enriched.
Anna sent this message with almost total certainty that she had found the sort of confidante she had always dreamed of and as she waited, she smiled to herself as she sent other messages and drank the cup of coffee she had made for herself. It in fact was a few minutes which passed before she got a response which totally devastated her in to tears of bitter and sorrow. The message being as follows.
Dear Anna,
I am a man like your fellow Spaniard, Don Juan. When I want a woman I simply want her and do not care that she maybe married or not or in a relationship or not. I simply go after her. Of course if she does not want me than that is another issue and I see you do not want me therefore I will not trouble you any further and this will be the last message you get from me.
Please excuse me for saying so but what I want is not friendship but sexual relationships so if you do not want the same than what shall be between us is nothing. For me, it is all or nothing. I either get what I want, when I want it and how I want it or I take nothing so I will take nothing . This is not to insult your offer of friendship but I have no use for friendship of any kind so good bye.
Julian
It being this message which destroyed all of Anna's hopes and expectations and perhaps worse yet the enthusiasm she had built up after having heard Amporo talk about her internet relationship. She believing she would find a friend to take with her yet had encountered one, who did not care for anything that she did and wished that she might but serve as a sexual experience to be had in words on chats and smses and perhaps nowhere else. Anna was saddened as she wept yet in all she could not even find that which with precision had upset her to the point that her tears could not stop.
Julian, after all had not really insulted her in any way and had not even insisted on being her internet lover and if anything; he had withdrawn from her completely. As he in the time of his response had managed to both take her off his list of friends as well as block her off so that she might not send him any further messages. This being what she in fact wanted to do but saw that it would not be possible.
Anna could see that Julian was unwavering that it be all or nothing and since she had not accepted his offer; it would be nothing at all. He would not even be on her list of friends. It being this which had insulted her above all, even more than if he had insisted like many of the men she knew, who could not take no for an answer yet to her mind; his actions were worse. This being the case that theirs at least were natural while his were what she could or would not comprehend. Julian declaring that he would not take less than what he wanted and had decided what their relationship would be or rather that it would not be at all. This being something which up and till that moment, she had always decided yet this time it had been a man to declare it on her that theirs would be that of no relationship what so ever.
All of which leaving Anna divested yet she to a certain extent blamed herself that she felt the way she did, for when her sentiments were replaced by her logic, she did see that just as she was within her rights not to engage in chats about sex so was he to not engage with her at all. Indifference, she would receive which was his to give out and would be hers to receive yet this she could do nothing about other then get over.
