It's easier to understand the aims and objectives of the Anne Arundel County Republicans

after getting a handle on the county's geography and its demographics. It is one of the counties in Maryland, and Annapolis is the county seat. The Baltimore-Wash. Metro area includes the county. Anne Arundel's population of over half a million people breaks 1.1 to 1 in the Democrats' favor.

Along the same lines, the county currently has eight Democrats and seven Republicans in the State House, along with three Democratic and two State Senators. Republicans are in the majority among court officials and in the County Council & Executive.

There are 13 Republican Clubs in the county. This includes the Young Republicans (AAYR), the Republican Women of Anne Arundel County (RWAAC) and the GOP Business Women club. These and other clubs for Republican women in the county are especially active and wield a lot of influence.

The RWAAC was in formed in 1937, at which time it founded as the FRWAAC (Federal Republican Women). The club's activities involve not just the usual voter registration drives or fund-raising, but also active campaigning for Republican candidates. The club has a long-standing commitment to activism on issues dear to county residents.


The Central Committee of Anne Arundel County Republicans is made of 13 district representatives. Alan Rzepkowski, who represents District 32, is the Central Committee Chairman. Robin Bissett from District 30 is the Vice Chair.

The Central Committee meetings are held every month on the first Wednesday at 7 pm. The meetings take place at the Maryland GOP HQ in Annapolis. Anyone can attend the meetings. Each of the 13 clubs also host their own meetings, so interested parties are welcome to attend these meetings as well.

For instance, the AAYR meeting is also held in the GOP headquarters and their membership is fairly open to everyone. RWAAC, on the other hand, has a different location for its meeting and their membership is open to women but men get an associate membership.
