Annual Events in London

As the capital city of the United Kingdom, London has a lot to live up to

. What with its enormous population that encompasses cultures from all around the world spread across a sprawling city that never seems to end, it's really no surprise that visitors have a lot of big expectations for the big city. Thankfully, however, London lives up to all of these expectations and more.

No matter what time of year you visit London, the chances are you'll arrive in time for one of the city's great events or festivals. This could be a large scale annual event that people from around the world travel to, or a small, localised celebration of culture - which can be just as much fun as the bigger things, if not more. London is a city lucky enough to have many areas where the local population tends to adhere to particular cultures, meaning when the time comes to celebrate those cultures, it's easy to know where the best parties are.

London is also an internationally acclaimed venue for concerts, film openings and celebrity bashes, meaning there's always something glitzy and glamorous going on. Many of the world's biggest musicians make a stop in London during a worldwide tour and, sometimes, the capital city is the only place in the UK that certain artists will visit - which is great for Londoners, and an even better excuse for others to visit the big city.

No matter what you're into, you're sure to find something happening in London that suits your tastes. For example, theatre buffs can head to the West End to take in a performance of their favourite play or musical in the theatre district that rivals New York's Broadway. Or perhaps you're interested in seeing how the Chinese celebrate their own New Year - in which case, you'll want to head to Chinatown, which is in the SoHo district, when the holiday takes place around January and February each year. Of course, there's always another New Year party to head to - the one that takes place on December 31st and is celebrated at length all across the city!

London is a truly diverse and welcoming city, and one where the fun never stops. From incredible arts exhibitions to musical extravaganzas, cultural festivals, family fun and much, much more, there's always plenty of London events taking place all year - meaning there's never a bad time to visit this fun and friendly city.
