Christian books can help you understand God's Word

. There is absolutely no substitute for reading the Word of God, of course, but reading Christian books that expound on themes or topics in the Bible can help you gain a deeper understanding of the Word.

To be sure, Christian books written by solid authors can expound on Scriptures and make the Word easier to understand so that you can apply these time-tested biblical principles to your daily life. I wrote a Christian book called Fervent Faith, for example, that offers many different Scriptures instructing people how to stay on fire for God. The Bible tells us we have an enemy to our faith. My Christian book shows you how to keep your first love for Jesus alive and well.

A quick review of the number of Christian books and Christian bookstores in the world today will confirm the demand for Christian books. Family Christian and Arsenal are just two of the many stores devoted to selling Christian book and gifts. Millions of Christian books are sold every year, and some end up on the New York Times bestseller's list. Others, like my books A Prophet's Heart and The Heart of the Prophetic, target a smaller group of Christians.

The point I am trying to make is that if you are looking for Christian books on a particular topic, chances are you will find it at your local Christian bookstore-or even Amazon.com. You'll find Christian books on prayer an fasting. There are Christian books on faith and the blood of Jesus. There are even Christian books on less spiritual topics like business and raising kids. If you can't find Christian books on the subjects you want to learn about, maybe you should write one for the rest of us!

To recap, Christian books can help build your faith - and equip you - for what God has called you to do. Anointed ministers who pen Christian books offer key insights into the Bible and break out concepts into actionable steps that make it easier to be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer (or a reader). Be sure to read your Bible every day, just don't neglect Christian books that might help you gain a better understanding of the Word.
