Antigua Launches Honeymoon Competition For Leap Year Proposals
It happens just once every four years, but Leap Day gives girlfriends the perfect opportunity to turn the tables and propose to their boyfriends.
The Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority is giving women a helping hand this year by offering couples the chance to win a romantic honeymoon in Antigua if they submit a video about their unique Leap Day proposal.
The competition is part of an online social media campaign launched by the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authoritys UK office to promote honeymoons and weddings abroad in the twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda.
P Hilary Modeste, the UK & Europe Director of Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, explained: We have launched this innovative, not to mention fun, online campaign to reach our key audience of females who we know tend to be the honeymoon decision maker.
Research shows that women are overwhelmingly the decision-maker when it comes to choosing where the couple spends the honeymoon. Women also spend 35 per cent more time on social networks than men and drive 70 per cent of consumer spending.
Females who propose to their loved ones on 29th February, 2012 will be competing for the prize of a seven-night all-inclusive honeymoon at the Sugar Ridge Resort on the Caribbean island of Antigua.
All that women have to do to enter the Leap Year competition is upload a short video of their Leap Day proposal on YouTube. The best five videos will then be short-listed for a public vote and finalists can share their videos across social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to gain maximum votes.
Sugar Ridge is a luxury boutique hotel situated on the west coast of Antigua with luxurious spacious accommodation boasting four poster beds, private balconies and modern amenities.
If going for Antigua weddings, couples can get married on an outside terrace with a backdrop of the stunning tropical hills and sparking turquoise Caribbean Sea, before relaxing on their tropical honeymoon where they can indulge in the spa, enjoy candle-lit dinners in the gourmet Carmichael restaurant, or take a romantic stroll one of the islands powder soft sand beaches.
