Anxiety And Depression: The Relationship Between Them

To put it simply, anxiety is excessive worry and nervousness.
How do you define depression?
The simple explanation is losing either interest or pleasure, possibly both, in life itself (your personal lifestyle included).

Now that we know what the basic definitions are, we can actually observe that they can have a relationship with each other.
A simple formula:
depression (life without joy) + anxiety (drains joy out of life)= panic and/or anxiety attacks with depression included for good measure.
How can enjoyment of your life happen whenever extreme nervousness and worry are present? That's right, it's not possible to. An added point to mention is the fact that if you are depressed it may lead straight into anxiety (and/or panic) and if you are experiencing anxiety you are able to very easily slip into depression.
How do you treat anxiety and depression?
Like we said before, the health-care community treats them both the same by prescribing the same drugs for each. Medical school has trained them to do that.
At first, this seems to be a feasible treatment. Looking further however, provides us an additional view. Prescribed drugs have unwanted side effects and the ones given for both anxiety and depression are not any different. Factually speaking, with nearly all the anxiety medications, "suicidal tendencies" is listed as one of many unwanted side effects. Alarming, huh?
An even better treatment, and one that a lot of people "swear" by is training yourself to substitute those negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Just the recognition that what you are experiencing is actually anxiety, depression, or both, helps some people too.
