Apothekar celebrates with big numbers in HP

HP (Hewlett-Packard) is enjoying success under its new CEO Apothekar. The company has had its shares of ups and downs. It seems that the dark age has passed for the company as it is relishing strong fiscal fourth quarter results. The company reported earnings of $2.5 billion, or $1.10 a share , on revenue of $33.3 billion, up 8 percent from a year ago.

Execution under distractions is a thing to be learnt from HP as per experts' opinion. HP projected first quarter revenue of $32.8 billion to $33 billion with non-GAAP earnings of $1.28 a share to $1.30 a share ($1.06 to $1.08 under GAAP). The rivalry among tech giants is increasing day by day. Stiff competition gets even the best of the companies under acute pressure as per analysts. It has been reported that Apotheker said that "a competitor" has tried to distract HP repeatedly, but was unsuccessful. It is believed to be a pointer towards Oracle over SAP which created much of a havoc in the tech world. Oracle rested its case eventually. Nonetheless, HP stayed focused and placed a premium on driving its business forward.

It is crystal clear that HP is on a winning spree in the tech world. Analysts say that the company has gained momentum and shall bolster up more to reach the zenith of its productive services. Surveys also show that the customer feedback has been amazing. Apotheker added that research and development outpaced revenue growth in the fourth quarter and that trend will continue as per sources. The new CEO is engaging himself in digging out technology beneficial for the development of the company and welfare of the people.

Apothekar streamlined a basic roadmap to be followed by the company in the time to come. Reportedly, he mentioned that HP will spend more on R&D. The company wished for more integrated systems on tap. Also, HP plans to drive a more unified user experience across the board. A respite seems to be the announcement that the company will be hiring more sales people. The company stresses upon the growing software revenue as a percentage of revenue and also said that a lot of value can be added through software. HP executives also added that public sector spending wasn't notable down or up because most of its state and local government contracts are annuity-based services deals.

A statistical analysis show that HP has been soaring in fiscal 2010 with earnings of $8.8 billion, or $3.69 a share, on revenue of $126 million. Moreover, Enterprise storage and servers shined with revenue of $5.3 billion in the fourth quarter, up 25 percent from a year ago. The company is shining under the shelter of its new CEO. Further, reports are a witness to the fact that HP's software revenue was up 1 percent to $974 million. Operating profit was $247 million. Additionally, Imaging and printing revenue was up 8 percent to $7 billion in the fourth quarter. Operating profit was $1.2 billion.

HP's new CEO Apothekar has undoubtedly geared the company's progress in a short span of time. HP has every reason to boast about with a strong fiscal report packed up its sleeve.
