Apple Ipad & Amazon's Kindle - One-on-one Battle!
When it comes to e-book readers, the Kindle is the better choice
. But one must admit that the iPad is 'more compelling' than the Kindle because of the iPad's multi-functionality. If it came to a straight head-to-head choice between e-readers, almost two thirds will prefer Amazon's Kindle to Apple's iPad. The Kindle is focused on reading and leads to owners reading more. The iPad will have a lot of different things to do and it's rather unlikely you will read more or even as much.
Power and Battery Life: IPad uses Lithium -ion battery which will be active for 10 hours of web on Wi-Fi, video and music. Kindle provides 1 week reading time with Wi-Fi on and 2 weeks reading time with Wi-Fi off. Apple's iPad actually offers impressive 10-hour battery life, which is more than most folks will even be able to read in a sitting before tossing it back on the charger, but the Kindle can go days and weeks without a charge.
Readability: When the comparison is in terms of Readability, I must say kindle is much better than iPad. The iPad uses an In-Plane Switching LED back-lit Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) which is similar to display technologies used on current high-end notebook computers and Apple iMac screens. While the iPad's IPS LCD screen technically boasts better contrast, the Kindle manages an excellent approximation of newsprint, you can read it easily even in direct sunlight, and the lack of a 60Hz refresh rate makes it easier on the eyes over many hours.

Price and Others Comparisons: The Kindle now runs for only $139 for a Wi-Fi-only version and $189 for a version with lifetime 3G access for downloading books on the go. The cheapest Wi-Fi iPad runs for $499 and adding 3G spikes that number to $629, plus data charges of at least $15 monthly from AT&T. The total price disparity after using a Kindle and an iPad for two years is $800.Operating System is iPhone OS in iPad and in Kindle it is kindle OS. IPad uses onscreen virtual keyboard + optical iPad keyboard dock. Kindle uses physical QWERTY keyboard. Multi touch functionality available in iPad, but not seen in Kindle.
At the end of the day, it's virtually impossible to decide on the winner between the two devices Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle, and thus you have to go by your own preferences to find out which suits you. If you are only looking for an e-book reader, Kindle is undoubtedly one of the best e-book reader, but if you vying for something more than the digital book reader, you should go for Apple iPad which promises you a lot more than e-reading.
