Apple has applied for a patent on multitouch technology for the click wheel

. After the iPhone, iPod Touch and the touchpad on the MacBook notebooks, the iPod would be able to support multitouch.

The patent application Apple describes a scroll wheel that moving objects such as a finger can not perceive this as a rotating motion, but even those straight-line basis over the center of the scroll wheel moves.
