Applied Behavior Analysis ABA is a therapy that involves understanding the relationship between a childs behavior and his/her environment. The therapy involves certain techniques like positive reinforcement wherein a good behavior is rewarded with the expectation that the child will respond in a positive manner from next time. The Miller Method has sometimes been compared with the ABA or has been combined with the ABA to derive the best results. This treatment was developed by Dr. Arnold Miller and Eileen Eller-Miller. Cognitive development techniques are used in this method. The Miller Method uses 2 major processes which aid in restoring the childs ability to recognize and build his behavior on recognition and perception. The processes include modifying a childs aberrant behavior into functional behaviors and introducing activities that are relevant to situation in relation with objects and human beings. A child with the help of this therapy develops communication skills using gestures and language. Parental assistance is mandatory for this program.
