, NetEase, the game's operator in Mainland China, arouses the public attention again.

That is, they have started to seriously punish the in-game currency trade. Recently, those paying RMB for WoW Gold via the buy wow gold sites like 5173.com and taobao.com (online stores allowing virtual currency trade,) similar to IGE have been punished with their accounts permanently banned. But the former operator of Chinese WoW - The9 always turned a blind eye to the virtual gold trade during its service time, even NetEase has taken no action against such trade in the past year.

The site's CEO Brock and COO Alan, both of whom were once well-known EQ players, registered IGE in Los Angeles after recognizing the great business chance during gameplay. So far, IGE has become the world's largest retailer of in-game goods. With the monthly sales of USD 10 to 20 million, IGE has reached an estimated market value of USD 600 million.

IGE calls its core business "online games' 2nd market", that is, buying and selling the in-game currency and items online, which is different from "online games' 1st market" where online buy wow gold game developers and operators only sell CDKeys, point cards and monthly cards.
