Maintaining aquariums and tropical fish tanks may be easy if you use right tools with proper guidelines at a fixed interval otherwise it's a tedious task for anyone. There are several test kits available for aquarium lover to maintain it properly. Following are some of the most important test kits:

Ammonia and Nitrate to check the biological filtration is coping with waste levels.

Nitrate to check the change in water level in the fish tank.


pH to determine how alkaline or acidic your water is.

GH to determine the level of hardening ions such as magnesium and calcium.

KH to determine the buffering capacity of an aquarium i.e. carbonate hardness of water in your tropical fish tank.

Instructions for cleaning up your Fish Tanks or Aquariums:

1. Turn off the filter, heater or any other electric accessories and make sure that power supply of your tanks completely off before you start to clean your tropical fish tank.

2. Keep a big bucket and aquarium gravel vacuum. Now, place the bucket below the aquarium and insert hose into the bucket. Now, tape into the hose so that tank water don't drop anywhere instead of bucket.

3. Insert vacuum into fish tank and pump up and down until the water flowing into the bucket. Remove 20% of water from the tank.

4. Check the filter cartridge. Replace or rinse it out at least once in a month. You should also make sure to avoid killing bacteria by rinsing it completely in tank water instead of tap water.

5. Now, use an algae scrubber to remove algae inside the aquarium tanks and their decorations.

6. Add the right proportion of water dechlorinator after refilling the tank with lukewarm tap water up to the fill line.

7. At the last after doing the above mentioned tasks, turn-on the heater, filter and other electric equipments and check back in an hour to make sure that everything is running properly.

Keeping Tropical Fish in Tropical Fish Tanks:

You should aware of following things in keeping the tropical fish in your tank:

Placing them properly in the aquariums.

Keeping their water clean in terms of totally bacteria free.

Feeding the fish at appropriate time and intervals.

Helping fry (baby fish) grow if your fish reproduce.

In this way, your aquariums or tropical fish tanks can be always maintained in a proper manner.
