Built in the Renaissance styling of Nicodemus Tessin the Younger, the Royal Palace has been a grand site to see on the island of Stadsholm since 1728. It stands on the same site as the medieval castle Vesan which was destroyed in 1697 by fire. The palace has 500 rooms, with Baroque, and Roccoco decorations in each one. King Oscar the second occupied the first floor apartments until his death in 1907. It is open year round, from May through August every day from 10-4, and from September through May, 12-3, closed on Mondays. It costs 100 Krona for adults, 50 for kids and students 7-18. Whenever you are visiting Stockholm, it is a good idea to check with each website for each attraction that you want to see, to check if there are any other restrictions. Some are closed on holidays, and since some of these are different than in the United States, it is a good idea to make sure when they are open. Due to your budget constraints, you may want to also check and see if any have free admission days, which could save you money.
With all the attractions Stockholm has to offer, you need to book your hotel reservations online. There are many different sites to choose from, and some sites have special discount when grouping flight, accommodations, and car rentals together. Not only is it a good idea to book early for lodging, but if you want to be able to get into some of these places without any problems, you should book these at this time as well.
