For most home remodeling projects now a days one of the must haves when redoing your kitchen is adding granite countertops
. By having granite countertops it gives your kitchen a more updated look and feel in my opinion. When I recently went through a kitchen remodel in my home one of the must haves for myself was adding granite countertops. Like all things though granite countertops have some cons with the pros. Here is a breakdown of the pros and cons of installing granite countertops in your home.
First lets take a look at the cons of granite countertops. One of the main reasons why most families don't add granite countertops to their home is because it's so expensive especially when you compare it to other basic countertops. Another con is that it needs maintenance to keep its look. Granite countertops usually need to be maintained at least once a year. The actual cleaning part isn't a problem because it doesn't require much work but some people might not have the time to do this or completely forget about doing it. Not maintaining your granite countertops could lead to stains and bacteria which is something you don't want.
Now lets take a look at the pros of owning granite countertops. Without a doubt most likely the biggest pro of owning granite countertop pros is the simple fact that it's extremely durable. By having granite countertops there is a good chance you won't need to buy another countertop as they last longer than other features of your home and are built to last for many of years. Another pro in owning it is the look it gives your kitchen. Granite countertops in your kitchen really does give it more updated look and adds luster to your kitchen. Another pro and is one of the main reasons why I installed granite countertops in my home was because I'm now able to cut up my produce right on it without a cutting board. Granite countertops in a way are built to take a beating and with this I'm able to cut up my vegetables right on it without having to worry about damaging it.
Well here were some of the pros and cons of owning granite countertops. When deciding on whether you would like to add it to your home you need to make sure it's the right fit for you.
