Are Workers Taking Sufficient Lunch Break?

The latest Right Management poll has a revealed that fewer than half employees leave their desk to take their lunch break each day

. 47% of workers polled said they do take a break for lunch at work, 20% said yes but they nearly always stay at their desk and 19% said only from time to time. Leaving 13% who said they seldom ever take a break.

Douglas J. Matthews, the Right Management president said, Although we know that employees are under a great deal of pressure, skipping lunch or being reluctant to take a break during your work day is not the way to deal with it. Taking time away from your desk for lunch may go a long way towards reliving stress and boosting energy.

53% of top-level executives (C-Level and vice president) were most likely to take a break.

49% of men were slightly more likely to take a break when compared with 42% of women.

The survey revealed that the younger the worker the more likely they are to take a break.

oWith 57% of workers between 18 and 24 indicating they always take a break.

o53% of those between 25 and 34.

o46% of those between the ages of 35 and 54

o45% of those 55 and older.
