Are You A Candidate For Flight Lessons?

The desire to fly is one of the most basic human desires

, from Icarus to the Wright Brothers and beyond. Its a common dream for both children and adults, but its not something everyone ultimately pursues. There are many different levels of pilot training. Sometimes flight school holds the ultimate goal of becoming a commercial pilot, and sometimes the goal of aviation training is only to be able to fly as a hobby, but regardless of the goal, many people find the experience of flight to be exhilarating.

To start with, in order to be able to pursue flight lessons, you should meet medical requirements. These requirements vary depending on how far you plan to go with your aviation studies and pilot training. During the first lessons of flight school you will be classified as a student pilot. Generally, you can start going up in the air with a Certified Flight Instructor if you are 16 and have a valid license. gradually you will be allowed to fly solo and with fewer restrictions based on your flight experience. Pilot certification classification start at the student level and go through the designated examiner level who has the doctorate in piloting. The most common designation is that of private pilots. Private pilots must be 17 and have a minimum of 40 hours of flight time, although most have around 70 hours. Private pilots can carry passengers in any aircraft, but aren't allowed to fly for money, they can be reimbursed for flight expenses, however, such as fuel.

There are also various medical requirements that must be adhered to if you are to pursue aviation. The further you go into your pilot training the more intense these become. Requirements can vary surrounding vision, hearing, and equilibrium, but there are also conditions that will disqualify someone from flying. Some of these conditions include diabetes requiring hypoglycemic medications, Angia Pectoris, Coronary Heart Disease and various other heart conditions, psychosis, bipolar disorder, some personality disorders, substance abuse and/or dependence, epilepsy, and nervous system problems.

Vision needs to be correctable to 20/40, there are also certain color vision requirements, hearing requirements, restrictions on any ear diseases, especially those that may affect equilibrium, cause vertigo, or speech problems. Blood pressure also needs to stay under control and cannot exceed 155/95. First and Second class pilots are required to have Electro cardiograms after age 35, and have them annually once they reach age 40. Overall medical testing should be updated every two years.

With medical restrictions, pilot training isn't going to be practical for everyone, and of course everyone's health is subject to change, but that is all the more reason for those who do qualify and have a real interest to pursue at least the early stages of flight school and aviation training, because it is hard to determine how long they might qualify to take flight lessons.

If you want to take flight lessons the first step is to find a flight school and take flight lessons from a Certified Flight instructor. Even if it turns out that you cannot fly on your own for medical reasons, you may be able to experience some of the rush that pilots experience by going up in the air in a private plane, which is closer to flying yourself than if you are simply traveling on a commercial airplane. The lucky ones, of course, will be able to fly and may find that flying is something they enjoy enough to become a commercial pilot or a flight instructor, but until these options are investigated with that first flight lesson, you won't know if flying is part of your future, or if this exciting skill will take you to all the new heights you desire in your life and career.
