What is the biggest difference between weekdays and weekends

? Not just work, but the scheduling that we go by. Weekdays are often predictable, mostly because we have an agenda to accomplish such as work, pick up the kids from school, and eating habits. All of these are fairly consistent through the week, until we arrive at the weekend. Here, schedules differ, usually according to what you want to do (and sometimes avoiding what you need to do).

Unfortunately, this lack of rigidity we face during the weekend can lead us to counterproductive eating and other habits that slow us down on the road to fitness. Were often unfocused, undirected, and unaware of the habits we find ourselves doing every weekend.

Not much else to do

First things first, were often left with some spare time during the weekends, and overeating because of boredom or watching the football game are very common. So, dont make your favorite snack foods readily available to you. Avoid storing these at your house in the first place, even if theyre just for snacking. And when you do eat, dont eat from the container. Measure yourself out a pre-calculated amount thats right for your diet.


Eating out is probably one of the most common activities for the weekend. Its Sunday afternoon and you really dont feel like cooking, but it presents you with unhealthy situations in which you may find yourself overeating or eating unhealthily. Be cautious of over-eating out during the weekends, and keep an eye on what youre putting into your body.

Party for the weekend?

Always remember, dont go to a party on an empty stomach. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep you full and reduce your desire to eat or drink as much. Remember that alcohol is a high source of carbohydrates, so if youre going to drink, stick to lite beers or champagne spritzers and limit your consumption of them (as it is important toward your general health).

Schedule your meals

Though it is the weekend, planning is still important, and can play a big part in keeping your diet habits on the right track. Schedule eating times during the day (effectively four to five small meals is good), and make sure you stick to your schedule.

Dont skip meals. This is possibly one of the worst things you can do to yourself when it comes to maintaining a healthy eating habit. If you skip a meal, youll run low on energy and be that much more hungry, leading to over consumption or eating the wrong foods to try to make up the difference. Either one of these situations can be extremely counterproductive to your diet, so make sure you eat when its time to eat.

But, were often faced with the facts when it comes to planning a family gathering. Food everywhere and plentiful is hard to say no to. So were sometimes faced with the situation where overeating might be a problem to deal with. So what would you do to accommodate for extra caloric intake? Try scheduling in some extra routines for that day. A longer walk, run, or jog (take some family members with you), work out a little longer, and even calculate it into your other meals- properly. Reduce the amount or change what you consume (lower caloric food items that are filling) at other times of the day in order to make up for a situation where you plan to eat more. But, keep in mind that overeating is still disruptive towards your diet, so avoid it as much as you can.


A treat

While a good healthy diet is vital to your fitness plan, be careful about completely denying yourself of any treats. Everyone has a favorite food, and by allowing yourself to enjoy moderate consumption, you satisfy your desire to have it. But dont make it readily available to you whenever you want. Make it a treat that you have to work for. Just remember to calculate it into your caloric intake for the day so that you can avoid being counterproductive to your fitness goals.

The most important thing for the weekend warrior to schedule into their weekend is exercise. Avoid lazing around and telling yourself that youll make it up during the week. A healthy body requires that you maintain it daily. Stay active with your family and friends, and avoid finding yourself on the sofa watching a rerun while snacking on a big bag of chips. So this weekend, dont wear yourself out being a weakling, be a weekend warrior thats ready to achieve some fitness goals.
