Are You Making These Three Deadly Article Marketing Mistakes?

Article marketing is a great way to connect with your potential customers and to establish yourself as an expert in your niche. Because it is free and it is so effective, many so-called "gurus" have been encouraging people to try it on the basis that it is "easy." The only problem with this is that the "gurus" are often less than honest about how easy article marketing is. While it is not rocket science, it isn't so easy that it requires no skill at all.

As a result, the article directories have been flooded with poor quality articles that yield even more dismal results for the authors who write them. To avoid joining the ranks of the unsuccessful, do not make the following three deadly article marketing mistakes:

Poor Grammar

Perfect grammar is not a necessity but that doesn't mean that you can submit articles laden with grammatical errors and have them be accepted by the article directory let alone be taken seriously. Another effect of poor grammar is that it makes the articles harder to read. Common errors include run-on sentences and poor subject and verb agreement.

A good way to check for grammar is to read through your article a few times. By reading it through you'll catch any egregious grammatical errors like missing capital letters or punctuation issues. You'll also get a sense of the flow of your article and be able to catch those pesky run-on sentences and sentence fragments.

Miss-spelled Words/Too Many Typos

Miss-spelled words and typos happen to the most literate of us from time to time. One or two typos are acceptable, but if they occur through-out the article, they can render it unreadable. Failing to proofread your own writing can also show a lack of consideration for the quality of your work, which degrades the reputation you want to establish with your readers. Don't rely on spellcheck programs because these will often miss common errors, for example choosing the word "their" when you meant to use "they're." The spell checker will miss this because the error is not in the spelling, rather, it is in the usage.

Poorly Chosen Keywords

Picking keywords that aren't searched for enough or are too popular will mean that your article will not get found. Aim for keywords that are competitive enough that people are searching for them but that do not have too many competing pages. A good rule of thumb is to go with keywords that have at least 50 searches a day and no more than 30,000 competing results when searched for in quotes.About the Author:
