? 7 Tips on How to Finally Get it Done!

I know it can be done! I personally know several people that stay at home, take care of their families, go on vacations and trips and earn money all the while. Finally, I wizened up a bit and started studying those people asking myself seven questions:

What are they doing?

What am I not doing?

What are they NOT doing?

What am I doing?

How can I duplicate what they are doing?

Who should I choose as my mentor and why?

How do I stay on track?

1. What are they doing? Good question. I purchased several courses, followed them (some to a tee and others not so to a tee) but didn't get the results they were getting. Not at all! I went to some seminars and again tried to do what they were doing. Nothing. No income, just expenses. Over the years

Over the years though, I have been following one person in particular. Every year we made the resolution to go to her event, but life has its own ways and we never went. Every year I mentioned to my husband that we should join her mentorship program, but we never seemed to have the money. (right, if I had only spend it on her program and not all the other things...). Finally, last January I decided to find out exactly what she is doing and signed up! Now I am learning step by step what she is doing and stay on track and duplicate her habits, her ideas and her system. All I have to do, with her help, is personalize them.

2. What am I not doing? Oh, self-study? I am not so good at that. It is much easier to see what my husband is not doing, or what my kids aren't doing. But, in order to get to the bottom of this matter, I had to find out. Here are my findings (ouch):

I am not doing things consistently - I do things now, maybe tomorrow, and than not for a while.

I am not effective - my work is just to please myself, I don't think from the right viewpoint - my customer's viewpoint.

I am not efficient - I dawdle, I spend way too long reading jokes, unimportant emails and websites. I get lost in cyberspace

I am not doing the necessary research.

3. What are they not doing? I had to learn this one by observation. Also,during a live event every single presenter seemed to scream at me that they have a TEAM. They are not doing everything themselves.

They only do what they are good at

They do a lot of out-sourcing (writing, techie stuff, web-site building, etc)

They don't dawdle. They see an opportunity and grasp it!

4. What am I doing? I am finding excuses why not to do things.

I call my mom and talk for a while

I call my friend and talk for a while

I read my junk email, for crying loud!

I surf the net

You get the picture.

5. How can I duplicate what they are doing? Well, for me that meant that I had to go off several email lists. Yes, I did save the info, so I can get back on later, if I want to. That allowed me to focus just on one system. If you are ADD or ADHD like I am, and your mind goes 300 miles and hour and you have all these ideas and love to start on them right now, phew...then you need to slow down, take a lot of distractions away and FOCUS.

Decide who you want to be your mentor

Follow every direction step-by-step

Get up early, read your bible, pray

Do that religiously for at least 3 weeks so it becomes a habit

Don't start a new project till you have finished the one you're working on

Make sure your mentor helps you find YOUR purpose in life

6. Who should I choose as my mentor and why? There are many different mentors. You need to find the one you click with. Just as you have a very specific message in you, your mentor does too. As a rule of thumb; if you admire the person, if you respect them and like what they are doing, if you get excited about their vision...that is the mentor for you. Make sure you are equally yoked. Make sure they have time for you, whether directly or through their team.

7. How do I stay on track? Self-discipline is something they don't really teach in school anymore. The best way to stay on track is to get on track and not get off it. Ha, you say, what am I supposed to do with that. Well, once you find your passion you need to set a goal for yourself. Not a goal so far out that it seems impossible to reach. Just a small goal. For example: To earn your first $10 on line. That is not that hard. Pat yourself on the back when you got it! Than, set your next goal and so on. The best way to stay on track is to always ask yourself, is this helping me reach my goal? If not, don't do it. If it does, go for it. Just don't go so far off track that you lose your long term vision.
