For single mothers in the United States, there are a variety of options available, especially in the form of scholarships. These scholarships provide money from $500 up to $10,000 to help women pay for college tuition, books, and other fees and expenses.

Scholarships have varying criteria for qualification. Some require that you be a resident of a particular area. Others have requirements of ethnicity, minority status, or gender. Some require that you have a certain grade in high school, and others require that you be entering into a degree program for a certain field. It never hurts to apply for all that you think you may qualify for because every extra bit of college payment helps.

Organizations and corporations provide scholarship monies because they want to see women succeed. They realize that many women need this extra push to help them provide more fully for their families. They want to help their communities to become stronger and to help these individuals. Going back to college does not have to be a financial burden for single mothers. If you will take the time to research the options available to you, you can find money to help offset the cost.
