Are You Using the Right Keywords?

Are You Using the Right Keywords?

Are You Using the Right Keywords?

Some people seem to want to rush into constructing their first PPC campaign. This is not difficult to understand; they may have read a lot about the power that PPC has to bring in new customers, and they would be right. But it is all based around those all important keywords. If the webmaster selects the wrong ones they will not get the results they want. Select the right ones however and the results could be very different indeed.

You may already know that being too general with regard to your keywords is not a good idea. Generalities bring in visitors who most likely do not know what they want. You may have paid for them to come to your website, but you won't achieve the high conversion rate you want.

Basically this means zoning in on your keywords carefully before you even begin. You may get fewer visitors as a result, but they will be far more likely to engage with your business in just the way you want them to.

Think about this for a moment. Have you ever clicked on an ad thinking you were going to be presented with one thing, only to find when you reached the website that it was nothing like you wanted after all? We all have at one time or another. Essentially it is because the person creating the pay per click ad that got you there didn't put enough time or thought into it. You have to be sure of whom you are targeting. You also have to be sure they are related to your business.

For instance if your website sells low cost life insurance you need to target people who are looking for low cost life insurance. Don't just target life insurance in general, and don't focus on insurance either. There are lots of different types of insurance policies after all, and if you focus on insurance in general you will get lots of visitors who have no interest in life insurance. They could be looking for pet insurance, car insurance, home insurance you get the idea.

Obviously the right keywords are those ones that bring you the best results. But they are also the ones that will provide you with a way to connect with your ideal customer. If you are ever at a loss for coming up with good strong keywords, always start by thinking about your customer. Who are they? What are they looking for? How can you provide it for them? And how can you find them via the PPC ads?

You can see just how important it is to make sure you have chosen the very best keywords for your needs at all times.
