If you have ever tried to quit smoking you know what a pain it can be. You might also know how unhelpful most cessation techniques are. The patch has a 3-9% success rate and the nicotine gum has bout a 7% success rate. With those kinds of numbers you would be better off saving your money and going cold turkey. That is near impossible for most people. Some people resort to pharmaceuticals such as Wellbutrin,Bupropion (Zyban), Champix, and Chantix, in the attempt to kick the habit. The problem with that other than the low success rate is all the side effects that come with these prescribed meds. You can google any one of these for an overwhelming view at the risky side effects, and what they were actually intended to treat. Not to mention that a whopping 98% of people using the prescription route end up relapsing. Why is it that these methods mentioned above have such low success rates. I believe it is because addiction is a trifecta. Allow me to lay it out for you. There are three categories of addiction.
The Physical Addiction (your body and brain crave the nicotine)
The Mental Addiction (all the activities associated with the smoking) such as after meals, after sex, drinking alcohol, or even driving your car.
The Emotional Addiction (stress, anxiousness, or boredom.
While the above curb the nicotine craving, they do very little to nothing to assist in the other two categories. To be successful in quitting all three catagories must be addressed. It almost sounds as if it's impossible to have success with quitting smoking. For many people that is the truth. This is where you I should tell you that there is a 100% guaranteed way for you to quit. Not quite. I am suggesting an alternative. Its like having your cake and eating it too. Its called vaping.
Vaping is done by using electronic cigarettes. As you take a drag from your E-cig a mixture of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, nicotine, H2O (water), and food grade flavoring are vaporized. A lithium ion battery and an atomizer assist in the vaporizing process. Nicotine is the only potentially harmful component in the mixture. There is no tar nor carcinogens being inhaled while vaping. Electronic Cigarettes are not a quit smoking aid, but a safe alternative that allows you the enjoyment of smoking with none of the health risks. Well almost none.
Nicotine has its own risks that can be hazardous to your health, but vaping is an overall healthier choice. As I mentioned before there are no carcinogens and no tar with electronic cigarettes. Thats right! This means no secondhand smoke as well. So not only can you continue to smoke, but you can smoke, (or vape I should say) in your favorite restaurant again because you won't be violating anyones airspace. Although electronic cigarettes are not a quit smoking aid many people report that they have either cut back on,or completely eliminated their traditional cigarette habit. I found this to be interesting so I did a little research myself, and found that the success rate for people who have switched to vaping is 83.23%. No wonder to me. You get the same sensations from vaping as you do from smoking.
You can also wean yourself by using the varying strengths starting with the strength you are currently using and decreasing it as you see fit. You also have the choice of flavors, and there are a ton of flavors out there. I hope this article has been helpful in the decision to substitute an e-cig for the real thing. It is my desire to provide people with a better solution than what has been offered.
