Aries sign in the Zodiac is the "Ram" and he is seen in the stars as a serene ram admiring his golden fleece. He is the first of the Zodiac signs because about thousand years ago he was seen when the sun happened to be in Aries. The sun crossed the celestial equator from south to north. This procedure took exactly twelve hours and from that time forward it is known as the day of the equinox. In Greek mythology the ram known as Aries is depicted as a flying ram with Golden Fleece. The legend states that Zeus sent the ram to rescue Phrixus who was the son of Boeotia. Phrixus was about to be sacrificed by his jealous stepmother but the ram took off with him and his sister Helle. The ram whisk them both high into the air saving them from the stepmother but unfortunately Helle lost her grip and she plummet down to earth losing her life. Phrixus was saved landing safely in the temple at Chlchis. Phrixus was so grateful to Zeus that he sacrificed the ram and hangs its golden fleece in the temple of Aries where the fleece as a lasting memorial shines up in the stars for all to see. This supposedly happened during the months from March 21st to April 19th which in Astrology is the time period for those who were born in that time. People who are born in this time period are considered to be assertive, brave, impetuous at times, energetic, self-oriented and competitive.
