When we deal with aromatherapy for homes we basically refer to the first principle, the principle of inhalation. Although you do not know much about the benefits that inhaling some types of scents and odours can have, still you can understand that scents are very important in each house and room, consequently you understand that the application of the aromatherapy principles can be useful in your home. Scents and odours are an important presentation and a hallmark for every house: when you enter a house for the first time, its odour is the first thing that you notice and that tells you that you are entering a home you have never set foot on before, because that given scent, probably resulting from the combination of home fragrances, food smells, plants, cleaners and many other variants, is typical of that house and not of other ones. And a pleasant odour, of course, gives you the impression of entering a cosy room, where you will be at ease. But taking care of the scent of your house is not only important to welcome your guests in the best possible way, but especially to make yourself feel good. You are the person that stays much time in your house, and the scent that you decide to spread in it must match your tastes first of all.


However, apart from personal tastes, you need to know that there are some fragrances and essential oils that can give you more benefits, and in this sense it might be very useful to learn more about aromatherapy. Lavender, for example, is an essential oil that has a calming and balancing effect for the nervous system, and it is perfect if you need to have a relaxed atmosphere in your house. A similar effect is produced by clary sage, an oil that is also used to give vitality to your organism, regulate the nervous system and treat depression, and by pelargonium, which is used in aromatherapy for its antidepressant function and to balance the nervous system. In addition to their antidepressant properties, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and rose are also used and known for their sedative and aphrodisiac properties, while incense is well-known for its relaxing properties for both mind and body, and it is used against anxiety and depression.
