If you dont like to use the pad, you can make your own room freshener and place it in the refill bottle just like the plug-in air fresheners, such as Glade, Air Wick, etc. To make your own room freshener, put 5 drops of essential oils, 1 ounce of distilled water and 1/4 teaspoon of vodka or witch hazel into an ounce of refill bottle.
