Article Marketing And The Power Of Syndication
One of the oldest and most effective ways of tapping the power of unique content is through the power of syndication
. If you write unique content or articles, then you have the assets necessary to drive traffic to your website.
Before we begin to discuss syndication, we have to point out that unique content will draw traffic on its own even before it it is syndicated. As search engines crawl the web and look for new content to serve, original content easily finds its way into the search results with little to no search engine optimization or backlinking. For this reason, it is always best to start with original content.
Once you have original content, the easiest way to have it crawled and indexed on a regular basis by posting it to your own blog first which is always the best thing to do and then ping Google and Bing (which now handles YAHOO search as of the date of the writing of this article). Additionally, you can submit bookmarks to social bookmarking services and speed up this process.
After your content is indexed you will want to begin syndicating it. The first way to syndicate you content would be to release it as an RSS feed. RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication and that is exactly what it is, the simplest way you can syndicate content. The reason is because it is done automatically. Once your RSS feed is set up, then you will want to submit it to RSS directories that will help you syndicate it.
So, who will use your RSS feed? Generally, individuals who are interested in the subject that you are writing about will find your feed and add it to their reader which will, in turn, automatically deliver and updated content stream every time the reader is opened. Many webmasters will also add your feed to their website as supplemental or additional content for their visitors. Once you have set up an RSS feed and you have added content to your site, you can boost your number or readers by submitting your blog and feed to RSS directories.
The second way to syndicate your content is to submit your articles to article directories. Article directories have the ability to drive traffic to your site in several ways.
First, article directories usually have fairly strict standards with respect to the content they allow to be published. For this reason, the level of quality found in their database of articles is consistently high. Search engines such as Google and Bing, constantly crawl their databases looking for fresh content to index. When fresh content is found and indexed, search engines will serve the articles in the form of aggregated search results. This will be one source of traffic.
The second way article directories can drive traffic to your site is through other webmasters browsing their genre of interest in the directory looking for useful content to syndicate to their site directly. Usually this is done by downloading the article from the article directory and directly posting your article to their site. This is the essence of syndication and is standard procedure provided the resource box links are retained and credit is given to the original author. The links included in the resource box of syndicated articles are what drive traffic to your website.
