When approaching an online dating associate, more than likely they instinctively put you into one of three categories:

1. I like him or her

2. I don't like him or her

3. I'm not sure yet.

Lets look at each of the above categories more closely.

1: I like him or her. Usually there is an unconscious liking to someone because that person reminds them of something optimistic from their past. It could even be a person in their past they were smitten with and in some delicate way you remind them of those emotions. You could also quickly fall out of grace if you do something to shatter their past memories.

2: I don't like him or her. Just like a person can have an unconscious liking, they can have an unconscious disliking. For whatever reason, you remind the person of a depressing experience in their past or a connection what went sour. If someone at the outset dislikes you, it is hard to battle through those feelings and turn them around. You are probably better off moving on. I know it is difficult, but try not to take it personally.

3: I'm not sure. This is probably the case for most encounters. Most members who meet someone new is open minded enough to get to know the other person for who they are. This is particularly true at an online dating site. The risk of close proximity and potential intimacy is removed so most people are more open in getting to know a person when they are not concerned about their fears. If you meet someone you like but think they are uncertain about you, your job is to discover as much about the other person as you can to provide you leverage in persuading the person you are the one meant for them. It is ordinarily as simple as being a friend or someone they can count on if they need someone to talk to. For god's sake, don't lie to try to impress. Lying always backfires and destroys any chance to win the heart of the other person.

No matter which of the above categories you may encounter in your quest for love, don't ever give up your search for the one meant for you. Now that there is the world wide web, you can meet thousands that are searching for that special someone to love. So turn on your computer, get your fingers warmed up and start looking. On your quest, you may discover that special individual that could lead to the day when you stroll down the isle hand in hand.
