One of the very first rejuvenators which is still available today is Reclamite

. Reclamite is a lube oil based derivative that provides the asphalt the much needed maltenes to help keep the binder in good condition. One of the major drawbacks to asphalt seal coating with Reclamite is that in the majority of cases you need to sand the product very greatly to prevent tracking.

Another one of the first asphalt seal coating rejuvenators to become available was Gilsonite. Made up of Gilsonite ore and certain asphalts blended together with a fast drying petroleum cutter stock. Gilsonite because of its high carbon content provides outstanding UV protection from the sun, thus lengthening the life of your asphalt. It also is established to provide the binder with the maltenes necessary to enhance binding ability. The other positive note about Gilsonite is that it dries quickly without tracking problems, no sanding is required.

Another product that was developed roughly 25 years ago is the Dissco RS-90. This product was made to meet today's demands for a penetrating sealer/binder for existing asphalt pavement. RS-90 was engineered to penetrate the pavement surface and rejuvenate the surface by replacing the oils and binders that the sun and weather bake out of the asphalt through time. It is through these oils and binders that keep the surface of the asphalt bound together slowing the deterioration process. Asphalt seal coating with RS-90 keeps the asphalt flexible thus preventing the surface from becoming very brittle and deteriorating. By keeping the asphalt pliable through asphalt sealing coating with RS-90 you prevent cracking which keeps the water from entering into the base course, which can end in the pavement breaking up and a costly repair project.

RS-90 is a liquefied bitumen that is composed of a select grade of asphalt binders and plasticizers blended with a fast drying petroleum cutter stock. Asphalt seal coating with RS-90 also adds antioxidants, adhesives, and other chemicals that are absent in highly refined crude oil base asphalts. When RS-90 is properly applied it seals out water protecting the base of the asphalt and extending the life of the asphalt. It also seals in the resins and oils that the pavement needs to remain flexible and in addition adds the other antioxidants, adhesives, and chemicals to create a durable long lasting pavement.

Asphalt seal coating with RS-90 can be used on old asphalt, new asphalt, curbs, and also used as a tack coat. It can be used to blackout any pavement markings and can be used in any asphalt maintenance program that requires superior sealing and binding characteristics at a low cost.
