Astonshing Quilt Embroidery Designs

This week I was reminded of a tip that Ive seen for years and have always shaken my head at

. It just makes no logical sense to me. It seems that a thread that is a problem thread is usually that way because it has dried out. Living in a dry climate is said to cause this; however, those in humid climates

claim this problem. In either case, in order to re-moisturize the thread, the tip is to place it in the freezer for several hours or overnight. Apparently, this is supposed to add moisture back into the thread.

As a long time quilter, Ive had my share of pesky threads. Sometimes they break because they are threaded through the machine incorrectly, something known as operator error. Other times, they break because the needle is nicked or otherwise faulty. There are a plethora of problems that can cause thread to behave badly. Ive never heard from a reliable source that lack of moisture was

one of them.

When my mother-in-law took up quilting, her freezer was soon full of spools of thread to keep all the bottles of nail polish company; many of those bottles have been in there for 20 years! When Im making quilts, I take my art a lot more seriously than a household parlor trick. Whether its thread or nail polish, sticking them in the freezer will do nothing. The nail polish freezes solid, and the thread may develop a coat of ice that will moisturize the thread at least until the water from the melted ice dries. Putting wet thread through the machine is a no-no.

If youre like me and spend a lot of time stitching beautiful machine embroidery quilt designs to make your quilts special, youll want every bit of material you use on that quilt to be perfect. If a thread is breaking and causing problems, you really should not want it anywhere near your quilt! Each quilt needs to hold up to use and washing. If the threads break even before they are stitched, they definitely wont hold up to normal wear and love.

Building up our stash of quilting supplies is a time-consuming and budget busting activity. We are always on the hunt for new items from fabric to scissors and more. We arent happy until we have just about every quilting supply known to man. Once we have those supplies, we hold on to them forever;

just in case. We know deep in our hearts that we dont need most of it, but we believe that we must keep it and use it.

When it comes to your projects, whether you are making quilts, stitching machine embroidery designs or creating beautiful quilt embroidery, you worry over every bit of your project. You know what you need to do and use to create the fabulous project of your dreams. Now, you need to get rid of anything that doesnt help you reach your goals!

Do you enjoy making quilts more than you enjoy collecting quilting supplies? I know you do! So, you have my permission to throw out those darn threads that just wont cooperate. There really is nothing you can do to make them better than they are. Just get rid of them and return to your love of your quilting

passion. Live your creative dreams!
