AtHome America began it's life way back in 1982 when two sisters named Becky Wright and Lisa Brandau spotted a need for a one stop shop to sell products for decorating the home such as lamps, candles and ceramics. The store was known as "The country Peddlers". After a time, the sisters decided to offer a direct selling or multi level marketing opportunity for distributors to sell their products to women who couldn't travel to their store. This became so successful, that in 1991 the sisters sold their store to concentrate on the direct selling side of he business.

In 2002 the sisters changed the name of their business to AtHome America and they also introduced online selling. Today the company sell a wide range of home products including tableware, pillows, baskets, florals, linens, pictures and so on. The products are sold by a team of AtHome America distributors in the form of home parties and are aimed directly at women looking to generate a second income enabling them to choose when they work and ultimately what level of income they would like to achieve.

To become a distributor, you are offered a start up kit for $1 which includes $500 worth of products to showcase to potential customers. You receive commissions from the sales that you make from your home parties plus you are rewarded with commissions when the people that you manage to recruit start selling. Your hostesses are also rewarded with discounts off products and special gifts for holding a party.

So the bottom line is can you make money with AtHome America? Well, as with all mlm opportunities it depends how effective your marketing skills are and also how much work you are prepared to put into your business. A distributor who can not only find willing hostesses but can also successfully recruit a downline of distributors to buy and sell products will definitely generate an income and naturally the more effort they put in, the more they will get out of it. For some women, a lot of the emphasis will be on the social side, but those focused marketers should be able to reap the benefits.
