Near the Athirappilli falls is Vazhachal Falls, which is yet another favourite location of tourists worldwide. These falls provide you with an opportunity for trekking. The Sholayar dam located in the Sholayar ranges, the Thumboormuzhi dam are also places worth watching.

At Athirappilly falls, the water falls from a height of 80 feet from three separate plumes making this an unforgettable scene on a tourists mind. You can reach the top of the waterfall through a paved path amidst thick bamboo clusters. Through the steep narrow forest path, you can go to the bottom of the falls were the turbulent water flows with might. The best time to see the falls is during monsoon, from June to November.


Even the journey towards Athirappilly- through scenic villages, river-side roads lined with tropical lush green trees- is worth cherishing. There are numerous water theme amusement parks situated near the falls. But it is the natural water that makes Athirappilly what it is.

Athirappilly has a rich wildlife with Elephants, tiger, leopard, bison, lion-tailed macaque and sambar. The place is one of Indias best elephant conservation sanctuary and it is home for a variety of hornbills including the Great Hornbill, the National bird of Kerala.
