Atlas Snowshoe Review
By: Tracy G.The Atlas snowshoe story begins in the early 90's. Surprisingly the founder Perry Klebahn was awarded the first patent on snowshoe development within 40 years. Many innovations have been developed since then as Atlas continues to build dependable snowshoes for enthusiasts worldwide. Cutting edge modifications include the dual crampon design, Sure Click buckles and Spring Loaded suspensions. They have transformed the market offering a snowshoe for every occasion and every person with categories that include: Mountain Hiking, Trail Walking, Backcountry, Speed, and Kids.Mountain Hiking Snowshoes include the 12, 11 and 10 Series. They offer extremely durable TIG welded Aluminum frames that are incredibly lightweight but the 12 series has the top of the line Reactiv tubing that incorporates a stiffer more responsive flex. Heel lift bars for steep ascents and descents relieve calf strain or help to avoid possible injury. The Wrapp family of bindings which include the Wrapp Pro, Wrapp Plus and the Wrapp Swift offer a stable platform of gender specific lasts, one pull Uni Loop design and superior arch support. Lasts are exact foot forms that are used in the development process of forming the bindings they are gender and size appropriate and provide a molded more custom fit and feel. The Pro bindings available on the 12 series offer the silicone FlowTape straps that glide through low friction buckles for a simple entry or exit. The Plus bindings feature gender specific molds, urethane heel straps and supportive arches that cradle the feet. And finally the Swift bindings include warm EVA padding, straps that cinch and release easily and positive toe locators. The Mountain Hiking category is as the name implies these are the work horse of the brand and used for steep and unforgiving terrain.Trail Walking Snowshoes include the 9 and 8 series. Product features specialize in an excellent recreational snowshoe centered on comfort. They offer the proprietary Atlas sturdy aluminum V-tip frame, Free-Rotating Suspension (FRS) which cushions each step and the Wrapp family of bindings. The FRS suspends your foot for complete freedom of movement which ultimately improves traction as your foot is allowed to flex naturally from side to side on uneven terrain. This provides a walking platform with little resistance and a fluid stride for the greatest amount of versatility on the trail. The Wrapp bindings included on the 9 series tout such features as ease of use, superior arch support and the one pull Uniloop design. The 8 series offer the Strapp binding which is a very simple no hassle design of a Uniloop pull and exceptional arch support. The strength and durability of the trail walking category make them perfect for every day use within a variety of conditions. Atlas has also made kits for both of these models and it includes the snowshoes, trekking poles and convenient storage tote.BackCountry Adventure Snowshoes include the Aspect which is new for 2011/2012. Distinct characteristics include unparalleled, powerful technology offering aggressive traction for the most demanding terrain. The chassis is the Reactiv-Trac elliptically formed nose with a serrated T-frame design. Its revamped design provides essential traction that can articulate independently with the terrain. The Spring Loaded Suspension (SLS) keeps the snowshoe close to your foot for easy maneuvering which greatly enhances traction control. The all new PackFlat bindings are constructed of a quick lashing urethane strap that fully collapses for an easy stow. They are also larger to accommodate mountaineering or snowboard boots. Also included is a field replaceable backup strap for emergency situations out in the wild. Then there is the low profile Infinity decking. This unique construction eliminates frame wrap and optimized the surface area in a seamless design. A thoughtful, careful layout will prove to offer a durable snowshoe that can carry you further into the bush than ever before.Speed Snowshoes include the Race and Run. Compliment your workout in the wintertime with an athletic snowshoe. Designed specifically to keep you active the Race and Run snowshoes are the perfect tools to power through the slush and snow. The frames are made of a durable, lightweight aluminum V-tip frame with the Spring Loaded Suspension (SLS) which keeps the snowshoe close underfoot for an easy, natural stride. The simple one pull Race & Run bindings compliment a variety of footwear but at the same time allow for an smooth entry and exit. And the Nytex decking is flexible and dependable sure to last many seasons. The Race in particular has reduced weight with improved traction as Atlas has added a titanium toe and heel cleat for extra grip and a competitive edge. Leave the treadmill and the confinement of four walls behind with the Race & Run snowshoes.Purchase Atlas Snowshoes http://www.articlesbase.com/outdoor-sports-articles/atlas-snowshoe-review-4499708.html
