Attitude in Internet Marketing

One of the key factors that can either make or break the Internet Marketer is their attitude in Internet Marketing. It is all very well to be really keen and well informed in the matters concerning your particular niche or keyword, but most Internet Marketers are and 95% of them still fail to make any sales in the first year of business and there are 52% who admit to still not having made any money after 2 Years!

Does it have to be so? Well NO, first we need to understand the process that the buyer goes through, and then give them what they want. Should be easy right? Well it is not as you need to put aside your enthusiasm for your niche and newly found product and put yourself in the buyers shoes.

There are three things that most marketers get wrong at this point.

1. They do not decide whether the article or post on their site is a review, a sales letter or an informational piece.

2. They either target nobody or a very broad swathe of the world's population.

3. They think that people buy features.

However, a review does not merely describe the features. What makes a review a review is the writer's opinion as to whether or not the product does or does not do what it is supposed to do. This does not have to be the writer's opinion, it could also be a summary of the opinions of others.

A sales letter has to identify a problem, stir it and offer a solution. The solution has to be well matched to the problem, put to rest negative feelings the problem creates. It requires getting into the buyer's frame of mind. You must adopt their attitude!

An article can be anything. Articles that offer solutions to problems, especially solutions the reader has not thought of yet are great, as in Lose Inner Thigh Fat - The 3 Secrets that Got Me My Slim, Sexy Legs Back.


Combining the three does not work, because they each address a different phase in the buying process.

The point is you have to speak to your specific target market. In weight loss if you are after young men you would emphasize getting back the 6 pack abs, or for girls getting back the flat stomach and slimmer legs and small butt. If you are after 55 year old men whose doctor has told them to lose weight (40 lbs or more) or go on medicaments, you talk about melting away fat and the more vibrant feeling you get from losing the weight etc.

If you are not sure how to go about doing this when I learned to sail we used to watch the boat in front during a race and try to do what they did. We kept doing this each time out until we were consistently in the top 3. We also tried doing things a little differently to see if that would work. Eventually on one memorable day my brother and I beat 5 World and 9 National Champions in a handicap team race where we all sailed our own boats. It took us about 20 years of gradual improvement, and Internet marketing is also a little like that.

Learn from the best and do as they do, add a little to the mix, check your results and stick to what works, but make sure you stay engaged with what the buyer is likely to be thinking and remember to keep the 3 main elements separate. People do not buy for price or color they buy because it saves them money or puts them in a certain mood. If you can grasp this then you can change your attitude in Internet Marketing for the better.
