Australian Companies Generates Video Conferencing Revenues Of Us$ 81 Million In 2016
According to experts working at Blue Coat Systems
, video content will grow at the highest rate out of all network contents. It is predicted that companies located in Asia Pacific will set aside as much as US$ 804 million for video communication solution in 2016 alone. It is also reported that the growth rate of the region will be higher than the international average from 2011 to 2016 at 7.8 per cent in Asia Pacific as compared to 5.8 per cent of the whole world. Analysts have also stated that the returns on this investment for Australian firms only will amount to US$ 81 million.
Such figures have boosted the prospects of Conferencing Service Providers (CSPs) operating in Australia. Notably, vendors like Vidyo and LifeSize have entered the country with partners to offer integrated solutions to Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs). Solutions for small companies will bring business benefits such as lower costs, which was the biggest hindrance for their adoption in the region. The key growth drivers for video conferencing in the region are largely economic concerns, with emphasis on lowering carbon emissions and new developments in technologies that have brought down costs as well as to enhance productivity.
Video conferencing is not the only solution that will grow in the region. There is also telepresence, which is the most expensive but is said to offer more benefits to businesses. This solution is immersive in nature and can easily deliver top of the line video collaboration experience to all participants, which can help companies gather valuable data for lead generation. However, the costs related to telepresence are clearly out of the reach of small companies, hence is not expected to gain traction amongst SMBs.
Experts at ABI have said that unless the costs come down drastically, this solution will not be feasible for SMBs, though pay-per-use billing plans that are less expensive in the long run are available. Nevertheless, large enterprises like HSBC, GlaxoSmithKline and News Corporation have already begun putting the requisite infrastructure for telepresence in place. This shows the confidence that prominent companies operating in Australia have in face to face communication technologies to grow business and facilitate remote collaboration.
Companies can easily use video conferencing to maintain visual contact during training sessions, meetings with clients and seminars. The Quality of Service (QoS) of video collaboration has also improved over the years, which has made them feasible for multipoint conferencing without degrading video quality. Moreover, handheld devices with video relaying capabilities, such as iPad and Android tablets as well as Smartphones, now enable users to make video calls in real-time while on-the-go, thus providing companies huge business benefit at competitive costs.
