The one thing that NO ONE really likes is calling or e-mailing someone about a job posting that they have seen posted through or on one of the many social networking sites only to find out that it is nothing of what they thought it would be. Unfortunately, this is something that job seekers using social recruiting have to deal with as much as any other type of job searching technique. The one thing that job seekers seem to not think of or maybe even take for granted is that there are people out there that are scammers who love nothing better than to rip others off.
The question then becomes this: how do you spot the con artists? Well, sometimes you really cant spot something that is a scam even in the arena of social recruiting and high tech information. This is just the way it goes sometimes. The best thing that you can do to avoid a trap and become a victim of their scam is to thoroughly investigate the person and company in question. Yes, you can scout out their particular page on the social network, but that does not always give you the full picture.
You might want to think about emailing others that you know on the social network to see what they think of the particular social recruiting posting. If you trust the thoughts of those that you are talking to you might want to re-think your original decision to even contact the person in question. Something else that you might want to seriously pay close attention to when you are reading and/or responding to social recruiting postings is your instinct. If your instinct tells you that something is too good to be true, you need to pay attention to that.
There are not that many people that really and truly trust their gut feeling and instincts when they are doing things in their lives. Yet they really need to learn to do just that for the simple reason that your instincts are hardly ever wrong about anything. This also holds true when you are dealing with social recruiting and the Information Superhighway, otherwise known as the World Wide Web. Do you realize that many candidates have been able to avoid getting involved in scams just by listening to their instincts?
This is nothing that is new here folks; just something that is actually a measure of common sense. This really does go double when you are dealing with social recruiting and all the potential problems and pitfalls involved there. As the old saying goes, forewarned is forearmed.About the Author:
