Ayurvediques Massages Marseille - Skin Structure And Functions
Skin is the largest organ in the human body with various functions like protection
, sensation, Heat regulation, Storage (fats and water), Adsorption of essential gases and nutrients, ambience of the human body. We tend to take care of almost all body parts with great enthusiasm but tend to leave the skin to the care of soap water and some creams available in the market.
Modern medical science and ayurveda have different views about the structure of the skin thus the methods to nourish and care techniques will differ for both modern medical science and ayurveda. Both methods are equally effective and good but the difference lies in the duration of results and side effects.
Ayurvedic methods yield slow results with a long lasting effect and no side effects. Modern medical science yields quick results which are short lived can cause side effects such as quick aging of the skin, dehydration of the skin, irritation, allergy, inflammation to name a few. Yet we tend to run after creams and lotions being marketed and advertised aggressively which cause harm to the skin instead of curing it.
According to modern medical science skin consists of three layers epidermis, dermis and hypodermis.
Ayurveda divides the skin into seven layers. When these layers are affected by vital energetic forces of body called doshas in Ayurveda then skin diseases arise. Thus in ayurveda skin diseases are associated with one or the other layer of the skin.
1) Avabhasini: It forms the outermost layer of the skin. Dandruff, acne, pimples are the common problems that arise due to a imbalance in this layer.
2) Lohita: Lohita forms the second layer of the skin and moles, dark circles, black pigmentations are associated with this layer.
3) Shweta: Shweta the third layer of skin when disturbed causes eczema, allergic rashes etc.
4) Tamra: The fourth layer of the skin if affected gives rise to different types of leprosy.
5) Vedini: Herpes may affect the human body if the fifth layer vedini is infected.
6) Rohini: Rohini may be a causal part for cancer, tumors, elephantiasis etc. This is the sixth layer of the human skin system.
7) Mamsadhara: The seventh layer of human skin is associated with abscess, fistulas etc if proper care and nutrition is not given to the human skin.
Skin care should be a part of our everyday routine. As this human organ covers and protects the underlying muscles and vital organs. Pathogens are kept at bay from infecting the human body by the skin. Body temperature is regulated by the skin and insulation is provided by the skin to the human body. Ultraviolet rays from the sun are harmful to the human body and skin is the natural protector against these rays.
