This is a heartening number considering the fact that keeping with the demand of management education, education system in India responded well. Yet, there is something still lacking in business education in the country.
Many newly developed cities like Gurgaon came up with good business schools. Some well MBA Colleges in Gurgaon are MDI, JK Business School, Pearl School of Business, and The Institute for International Management & Technology to name a few. Other cities of India like Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune also have a good number of MBA institutes.
With so many B-schools in India, it is fairly obvious that there have come up many educational bodies and associations monitoring and controlling these institutes. The growing fondness of studying business studies have led to judge and provide rankings to these institutes. In India, more than 2 dozen ranking systems are present. These ranking systems present adjudge a MBA school on various parameters. For examples, certain important factors are considered while ranking MBA colleges in Gurgaon.
Many feel that these rankings reflect the quality of education of these business institutes. Various rankings used different methodologies. These rankings help the students and parents differentiate one business school from the other.
Many debate on the efficacy of these rankings and the various parameters used. This is an important topic and should be debated, but now what India requires is to look at the larges issue. The larger issue is the quality of education the B-schools of India provide to students. The efficacy of the many MBA institutes set up in the length and breadth of country and the impact these have created in the education system of India.
Rather than debating on the ranking system of the B-schools of India, we should have a clear understanding of problems faced in business school education. There are some of the great MBA schools in the country like the IIM, Ahmedabad, which is one of the best MBA colleges in Ahmedabad. And there is ISB, another well-known MBA colleges in Hyderabad.
What is the impact of these B-schools on students and faculty. Sadly, many reputed MBC colleges have been relegated to just good placement agencies. Their role to create entrepreneurs have somewhat lost. Instead they are become means of placing students in reputed companies once the program is over.
B-schools are laying stress on rankings and success reviews; they should concentrate more on creating entrepreneurs and sharing knowledge. It should be remembered that the world needs entrepreneurs and corporate leaders from India.
