Sophomore Alshon Jeffery led the team in receiving last year as a freshman and is
another of the 9 returning starters to the offense that has averaged just 20 points per game the past 2 seasons. The defense returns 7 starters to a unit that allowed just 20 points per game in 2009. The Gamecocks 2009 season ended on a bad note when they lost to Connecticut 20-7 in the Papajohns.com bowl with a listless effort. This year they get key SEC home games against Georgia, Alabama, and Arkansas with tough road games at Auburn and Florida. If Spurrier ever makes his goal of a SEC title this would be the year if he can get some breaks along the way.
