Breast augmentation is a type of cosmetic plastic surgery

Breast enlargement as it is also called is the process of surgically implanting prosthesis to enlarge and increase breast size. Breast implants are either round or anatomical in shape and are filled with a saline solution or silicone gel. The anatomical or "drop shaped" implant gives the breasts a more natural look, but there are certain risks involved with this implant. The first being that it is comparatively costlier than the round ones and the second is that it has rotation risks i.e. if the implant rotates it may give a misshapen look which would have to be corrected with surgery.

A number of breast enlargement products like creams, lotion, sprays etc. are available in the market these days, they usually provide temporary effects, surgery is a permanent solution yet a lot of risks are involved in the process.

Like any other plastic surgery the most common cause of worry is whether you would achieve the desired result or not, that sorted there are other risks worth considering before getting under the knife. Capsule contracture may occur during the healing process if the capsule of connective tissue forming around the implant contracts. It may cause tightening of the implant into a ball, and could cause immense pain. Another reason to worry is permanent scarring, though the scar is visible only under the breast line it is none the less permanent, some women also develop rippling of the skin around the area due to the skin being stretched over the implant.

Breast enlargement should be undertaken after one has seriously considered all possibilities and limitations of the surgery.
