Baby Pains: Helping Your Infant Get Rid Of Gas

It can be so frustrating when your little one has baby pains caused by gas

. Seeing your baby in pain is awful and naturally you want to relieve him as rapidly as possible. Some parents have the tendency to feel like bad parents because they didnt prevent the gas, but its impossible sometimes to get all the gas out of that tiny tummy. There are, however, a few things you can do that will help.

The first thing to do is try to avoid the baby gas and baby pains in the first place. If you are bottle feeding, this is easily done by purchasing bottles that are designed to minimize the amount of air the baby can swallow. For those mothers who are breastfeeding, making sure that the baby has latched on properly is an excellent way to prevent too much air from being sucked in.

Its important to try and get the gas out nice and early. As soon as the baby has eaten, bottle or breast, try to burp him. Now, not all babies are good at burping . . . some are what we call burp resistant. If your little one is like this, then youll want to make sure you have a few tricks up your sleeve.

Try all the different burping positions, sitting, laying across your knees, up on your shoulder, etc. If nothing works, then bouncing lightly on the balls of your feet while patting the babys back as he leans against your shoulder is a good technique.

Once the air has passed through the stomach and into the intestines, your little one will likely be very uncomfortable and may suffer from baby pains. Thats when you need to take more drastic action, like pumping his little legs to help move the gas through. Massages can also help.
